Show Time

I go to a Drama class called "Lamda" once every week, which I always look forward to. We do exams once a year, and after we've finished our exams, we get to put on a show. Last Wednesday was the day of the performance. We shared the show with a Musical Theatre class, which my younger sister Caitlin attends.

My grade was doing our own little five minute sketch, based on a Doctor Seuss book called, "Daisy Head Mayzie". It's basically about a girl called Mayzie, who's sitting at her desk in school one day, when suddenly, a daisy grows out of her head! It's a kind of crazy story, which is something you can guarantee with a Doctor Seuss book. For the first time in my whole life, was given one of the main roles! I played "Miss Sneetcher", Mayzie's teacher. She was a very funny character to play, as she panicked a lot, and almost fainted at one point!

Being backstage was really fun, I talked to the girls in my dressing room a lot, and we even played a trick on one of them, (one of the girls stood behind a door and jumped out when the victim walked in).

Our sketch was halfway through the performance, and as I stood in the wings waiting to go on, I got more nervous than I think I ever have for a show. I'm always scared before every show I've been in, but this was the most petrified I have ever been. I actually didn't want to go on, (I seem to remember thinking something along the lines of, "I'll let everyone down!"). But, in the end it was fine, and once I was on stage the nerves soon went away.  At the end of the show, us Lamda students where presented with our certificates for passing our exams.

The only thing which was disappointing about the show for me was that I didn't get to watch Caitlin's Musical, (I here it was something about letters though).

I enjoyed the show so much, and can't wait for the next one!
